Our German Shorthaired Pointer Book Collection
Over the years, we personally have collected and read ANY and ALL books that we have been able to find on The German Shorthaired Pointer. Here is a list of the GSP books we have been able to locate. Please let us know if you find one that has
been published that we may have missed, as we would love to add it to our collection. They are listed alphabetically by the authors. The titles all contain"German Shorthair(ed) Pointer."
If you would like to purchase any of these, we have found that AbeBooks.com is the best source for out of print books. Just enter the title German Shorthair* (* = is a wildcard for any title that contains SHORTHAIR such as shorthairs, shorthaired,
shorthair as the titles may vary) and the author's name and then SEARCH. Abebooks will let you know if any bookdealer
around the world has one for sale and their prices.

Robert McKowen's book is the most up to date on the history, CHAMPIONS and lineage of the breed. It has GREAT PHOTOS
of the all time best GSPs. Many are in our puppies lineage and it fun to see how much they resemble your dogs! In the back of
the book, all National and Dual Champions are listed by dates. Most breeders that have had a significant impact on the breed over the years are covered in detail. There is even an index in the back of the book so that you can look up any dogs alphabetically by name and read about it on the corresponding pages. Fantastic reference!!
Diane McCarty's REVISED book comes in both paperback or hardcover editions, which are identical ... but make sure you get
the 1991 or 1996 EXPANDED VERSION. It does not have as much lineage, but instead has a brief overview of the history and breed. It really is a GREAT book on TOTAL PUPPY CARE and TRAINING of your German Shorthaired Pointer. It has nice chapters on healthcare, obedience training, FIELD TRAINING, breeding and the legal responsibilities of owning a dog, as well. The MOST COMPLETE guide on TOTAL CARE of your GSP that has been published!
We highly encourage you to buy both of these, so that you may be an informed German Shorthaired Pointer owner.
You will NOT be disappointed in their content!
